I will forever remember this video. First of all I'm so sorry Justine. The tears you shed, had some company. I love birds. So did my mom. Enjoyed watching them frolic on our feeders. We caught a few fleeting glances of hummers. They were among her favorites, mine too, and I bet she's still enjoying our feathered friends from heaven. She might even have met Tea Leaf and Coffee Bean. Those names--adorable. Bless you for sharing Justine. This touched my heart to no end.

I have Hummingbirds set up nests in my lemon tree almost every year and this year I saw the 2 eggs and actually saw the babies for a day. Unfortunately, a crow found the nest and, long story short, the babies were gone a day after they were born. I watched the Hummingbird every day as it sat on the eggs and if I got to close, it definitely let me know that I was getting too close by zipping by my head but it remained there the entire time. I took pictures of the nest, the mother and the eggs but didn't get a chance to take one of the babies before the crow came along. It was nice to watch the mother feed the babies and hopefully I'll see another one again next March. Great story and sorry it turned out the way it did. I really know how it feels..

I haven’t been able to watch this yet, because just yesterday, we had a very traumatic thing happen with the baby hummingbird we’ve grown so attached to that was only 6 days old right outside our patio... I spent all day yesterday sobbing in grief and heartbreak. Today I still feel so devastated. The mama hummingbird who trusted us enough to build her nest right outside, let us watch the whole process from building her nest, keeping her eggs safe and warm through wind, rain, and cold, and sadly only one hatched. But she cared for it so amazingly for 6 days. She was so proud of it, and we were so proud of her. She was out getting food for her baby, and a huge wind gust came up, and a horrific accident happened... my heart literally shattered and I couldn’t stop sobbing... when mama bird came back with food to an empty nest, something broke in me. I haven’t felt that much grief in a very long time 💔💔💔

I TOTALLY know how you feel! I too am OBSESSED with my hummingbirds! My balcony is filled with flowers that they love... a water fountain where they bathe and swim and a feeder ... at around 4:30 to 5:30 a group of 8 birds come everyday at this time and they take turns drinking!! No fighting!! I call it HAPPY HOUR!!!🤍 They are so much a part of me..I love them so much!!!!! Thank u for this video... it bought me to tears ..happy and sad

The baby birds probably starved to death. You should have put in some hummingbird feeders. The adults consume a lot of energy. And there was probably not enough food for kiwi or her babies.

Since it's a popular nesting spot, could you perhaps put up a feeder and some temporary sturdy fencing and perhaps some large-hole netting? I only ask because she'll probably nest there again based on all those previous nests there. 🐣💞

I totally understand being invested in wild life by your home; there was a dove nest right outside my door once and we got to watch the babies and parents. However, there is no possible way to compare that to losing a pet that, especially when you've just been invested in for a few weeks.
